Royal General Bulbgrowers’ Association starts two pilots about data

Entrepreneurs in the flower bulb sector can participate in two different data pilots at the KAVB (Royal General Bulbgrowers’ Association). One project is about measuring and monitoring conditions during the storage of tulip bulbs. The other project focuses on digitizing tracking and tracing at growers and exporters. For these projects, the KAVB cooperates with innovative companies in the world of (big) data. Participation is open to all members of the KAVB.

Entrepreneurs nowadays already have different sensors at their company for, for example, measuring temperature and humidity. The aim of these projects is to provide entrepreneurs with more insight based on the data they collect. At the end of both pilots, the collected data will be analyzed by a data analyst to formulate concrete insights and applications for the bulb sector. With that, again new connections may possibly be made. It is valuable for participating companies to be at the forefront of new applications in the field of data.

Measuring & Monitoring
The pilot 'Combining real-time measuring and monitoring in the tulip storage process' is being carried out in collaboration with 30MHz. This company offers a data platform that provides real-time insight into climate and storage conditions by using wireless sensors. In this pilot, entrepreneurs are going to measure and monitor temperature and humidity in the tulip storage phase in real-time. The entrepreneurs monitor the data on a joint KAVB dashboard. On this dashboard one can view each other's measurements and graphs and communicate with each other about it or even share photos. More information about this pilot can be found in this brochure in Dutch.

Tracking & Tracing
The 'Tracking & Tracing' pilot is being carried out in collaboration with Beam Tracking. This company focuses on digitizing the logistics process at growers, exporters and cold storage and preparation houses. The participants in this pilot gather all kinds of data for a year using track and trace software. More information about this pilot can be found in this brochure in Dutch.
