At Veiling Rhein-Maas, the Import department ensures that flowers and plants arriving from countries such as Israel, Ethiopia, Kenya, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Italy and other countries can be auctioned successfully. The Import department's work includes e.g. unpacking and preparing products, an initial check of quantity and quality as well as the administration of imported goods. Since 1 April 2019, John van der Maden is working at Veiling Rhein-Maas in Straelen-Herongen as the new Team Manager Import department.
Field of activity
“We are pleased to welcome John in the Import department and wish him success for the upcoming tasks at Veiling Rhein-Maas. His main task will be the organisation and guidance of the preparation process in the Import department. This process starts with the arrival of goods and ends with the final product presentation on trolleys, ready for selling via the auction clock or Clock Service. Furthermore, John will be concerned with the quality of the delivered products as well as with the communication with our international suppliers”, explains Angela Neubauer, head of Service and Import Center.
Long-time experience
“I am really looking forward to my new tasks at Veiling Rhein-Maas”, says John van der Maden. “I have worked for several years in the cut flower industry and have originally started in a rose nursery. After that, I was employed at different wholesale companies in the green sector, where I gathered a lot of experience with a wide range of cut flowers, especially with rose varieties from South America and Africa. I was responsible for the purchase and sale of products at these companies and have been in daily conversation with the growers about quality and preparation issues”, adds John.
