Netherlands: New generation Dümmen Orange students graduated

Dümmen Orange and HAS University of Applied Sciences (HAS Hogeschool) developed a unique program for the farm specialists of Dümmen Orange. Goal of this program is to train talents and production managers from locations worldwide. Recently a second group of students successfully passed their exam and received their certificates.

During three weeks, a group of 12 production managers from locations worldwide, were trained in developing their knowledge and skills in the field of plant physiology and fertilization. They learned to find root causes, experiment on solutions, working together and gain more theoretical knowledge on plant growing. As part of the program, they also visited customers in the Netherlands and Germany. Moises Cadenas, Farm Manager in Guatemala, says “This course was a great opportunity to test my current knowledge and gain new knowledge at the same time. I found the course very up-to-date and I learned a lot by approaching our work from different angles. Meeting colleagues from all over the world was great, this will definitely help us to connect and collaborate even better!”

The program is initiated and set up by Bert Kuyper (Operations Advisor East Africa with Dümmen Orange). Bert is proud of the results: “My ambition is to help our growers in their personal and professional development. We produce good quality products and we need to have better understanding of preventing and solving possible issues. Investing in our future talent and management makes our business more sustainable. It was good to see how all participants have learned a lot about how plants function. They will be able to apply this knowledge to their daily work, which will lead to increased production and quality of our products. I’m impressed by the way they pick up the learnings and how it positively impacts our operations on the farms already.”

The certificate ceremony was attended by Jakob Treffers (MD Supply Chain with Dümmen Orange) followed by a group picture.
