'Old legs prepare for gruelling ride in Africa'

Jaap van Staaveren, director & founder of UFO Supplies, is gearing up to participate in the Old Legs Tour: a 2900 km ride from Harare to Mt Kilimanjaro to raise funds for the elderly in Zimbabwe. Jaap will be among nine other mountain bike riders from all corners of the Earth who will begin their journey on June 1.

The riders intend to raise $160,000 collectively for the cause, with funds going to ZANE, a charity dedicated to changing Zimbabwean pensioners lives.

Jaap understands the situation. "Due to hyperinflation all savings the older people have just became worthless. These people built the country, but unfortunately now because of their age, people are working into their 80s just to stay alive, it's heartbreaking".

Jaap has been training for the ride since September, major classics such as Paris - Roubaix and the Amstel Gold Race were part of his intensive preparation. Jaap looks forward to the challenge.

UFO Supplies is proud supporter of the Old Leg Tour and wishes Jaap very strong legs. If you want to support Jaap too, contact info@ufosupplies.nl or visit the crowd funding website.
