Netherlands: GrootGroenPlus announces plans for the future

On 22 and 23 January, the third edition of the GrootGroenPlus (GGP) Spring Fair was hosted. This edition would determine if this green fair in Zundert would be continued or not.

The first day of the fair started off with 121 buyers finding their way to Zundert. During the evening, the organization welcomed another 60 people for lectures about for example Brexit and doing business in China. On the second day, another 62 buyers visited the fair. Visitors of the green fair in Zundert came from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, England, Japan, Poland, and South Korea, among others.

Cooperation
In the spring, GrootGroenPlus cooperates with three other trade fairs in the southern part of the Netherlands: Groenbeurs Haaren, Groenbeurs Brabant (in Best), and TreeVention (in Venlo). For more information, please check www.springfairs.eu. Last year, the organizers noticed that approximately 60 per cent of the visitors of GGP’s spring fair also visit the trade fairs in Haaren and Best. This year’s data still needs to be analysed. However, they do know for sure that the cooperation will be intensified next year.

Growth
The GGP Spring Fair of 2020 might - according to the data - not be big enough yet, but it has become important enough for the area to host it for at least another two years. However, the organization will work on attracting more participants, especially from the region, and more (international) visitors. In order to do that, a clear distinction will be made between the spring and fall fairs of GGP. This will allow for better promotion and recruitment, by creating a separate website. They’ve already registered the applicable domains: www.voorjaarsbeurszundert.nl and www.groenbeurszundert.nl.

In 2021, the green fairs of Zundert, Haaren, and Brabant will take place on 20 and 21 January, and TreeVention on 24 and 25 January.

Continuance Road Show and novelties inspection
The 30th edition of trade fair GrootGroenPlus (GGP), which will be held from 30 September - 2 October, will also once again include a Road Show. The Road Show contains a selection of novelties from the field inspections, inspections during the expositions, and the star inspections that have been conducted by the KVBC (Koninklijke Vereniging voor Boskoopse Culturen, a royal association) in the last few years. These winners can be given some additional attention through this Road Show.

A recent meeting with the KVBC also led to the conclusion that the KVBC awards will be presented to the winners at GGP again. This will happen at the beginning of the internal international press tour, on Wednesday 30 September.

Trade fair GrootGroenPlus will remain 'Great in Green'
On 23 January, the board of trade fair GrootGroenPlus has decided to continue the use of last year’s slogan - Great in Green - for the 30th edition.
