As part of the Centenary celebrations during 2019, Taylors Bulbs teamed up with nearly 250 garden retailers across the UK to get more children gardening through their “Little Daffodils” initiative. Children were given the opportunity to plant daffodils during September and October donations of daffodils from their local garden centre. In total Taylors Bulbs supplied over 70000 “Little Daffodil” pots for children to plant either at their local garden centre or in their school.

As part of the Centenary celebrations, Taylors Bulbs donated £5 to Greenfingers Charity for every bag of daffodils supplied, and this has resulted in £4595 being raised. Greenfingers is a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children who spend time in hospices around the UK, along with their families, by creating inspiring gardens for them to relax in and benefit from.
Speaking about the initiative, Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications said “We are so grateful to Adam and the team at Taylor’s Bulbs for choosing to support Greenfingers Charity on their special anniversary year. This fantastic initiative is not only seeing thousands of Little Daffodils bloom across the country, the money raised will ensure more life-limited children and families will benefit from spending time outside as the number of Greenfingers gardens continue to grow!”
Adam Taylor, one of the fourth generation of the Taylor family, said: “We wanted to create a really special event to mark our Centenary year, and, particularly as we are a family business, we know the importance and the joy of engaging the next generation with growing. I am delighted that thousands of children got a chance to plant bulbs through the ‘Little Daffodils’ initiative and are watching them flower this spring, experiencing one of the delights of gardening. We are also delighted to have supported Greenfingers and raise money for this fantastic charity, dedicated to supporting children who spend time in hospices. It seems the perfect circle to engage with children via our customers and then to support many others who may be unable to experience the joy of gardening for themselves due to illness.”
Taylors Bulbs were supported by Evergreen Garden Care, The Greener Gardening Company and Westland Horticulture who all supported retailers with their compost needs for the initiative. “Little Daffodils” pots (made from 100% recycled material and 100% recyclable) were supplied by Poppelmann and the printing on the pots was supported by Dejex.
