New Zealand: Level 4 lockdown for plant producers and garden retailers

NZ Plant Producers Incorporated supports the national Covid-19 Level 4 lockdown, and is working with plant producers and related business to help them support the lockdown too.

Their priority is keeping plant businesses, and their staff and families, healthy and safe. They're closely monitoring advice from the Government regarding the evolving COVID-19 situation.

Current status
Right now (27 March), all plant producers and garden retailers MUST CLOSE throughout the Level 4 Alert.

The only exceptions are for those that have:

  1. Registered for Safe Practice with the Ministry for Primary Industries by 5pm tonight Friday 27 March
  2. AND restricted all on-site activities to the bare minimum crucial for immediate plant survival.

In addition, businesses supplying food growers are now defined as Support Services. They can continue to supply food growing clients with goods and services essential during the Level 4 Alert or vital to the client’s ongoing operation, e.g. would cause significant disruption in the weeks after the Level 4 Alert if not provided now. Learn more your role as a Support Service at MPI’s website here.
