D.C. company transforming floral industry with DIY kits

'Flower shop in a box'

Cameron Hardesty is the CEO of Poppy, a flower shop in a box concept that connects floral designers with potential clients. "So the box comes to your house directly from the farms in Ecuador," said Hardesty.

"We handle all the parts of the business that frankly they don't want to handle like generating leads and marketing and customer service," she explained.

She got the idea for the business after planning her own wedding and using years of experience in the floral industry to save money. "I knew where to buy flowers and I was going to get a great deal, if I wasn't going to save money anywhere else in the wedding it was going to be on the flowers," Hardesty said.
