NL: 100 years of Hordijk awarded with Royal predicate

Since Wednesday morning, 11 May, Hordijk has been known as Royal Hordijk. A great honor and culmination of their centenary. The King's Commissioner in South Holland, Mr. Smit, presented the 'Royal' designation to CEO Rik Hennink at 11 a.m.

This happened at Hordijk in Delft, under the watchful eye of, among others, the shareholders, the Supervisory Board, and mayor Marja van Bijsterveldt of Delft. With this festive event, the King gives us the right to use the beautiful predicate.

2022 is a jubilee year for Hordijk: they exist 100 years this year. In 1922 Groeneveld Hordijk founded his carpentry company Hordijk. He specialized in wooden packaging for horticulture. In 1966 Hordijk - after 44 years of using wood - switched to thermoformed plastic packaging. About 500 people now work at the Hordijk Group and the production companies. The company is an international supplier of innovative packaging and producer of sustainable greenhouse horticulture systems and related products in food & agri.

Respect, appreciation, and trust
Rik Hennink, CEO of Hordijk, reacts proudly to the award ceremony: “The award of the Royal designation is a compliment to all colleagues. The King personally grants the designation by Royal Decree. It is a culmination of our anniversary year and means that Hordijk has an excellent reputation in the market as a successful and reliable company. National and international. The designation also has a deeper meaning: it symbolizes the respect, appreciation, and trust the King has towards our company.”

Towards 100% circularity
Hordijk is continuously working on innovation and further sustainability. Rik Hennink: “We make our packaging solutions optimally recyclable. We make our greenhouses from high-quality material that responds in a sustainable way to the worldwide growth in fresh horticultural products. Now that Hordijk is 100 years old, we are looking ahead. As Royal Hordijk, we are facing the future with the same innovative drive.”
