A new blues is born: Perovskia Bluesette

At the coming FlowerTrials show of Florensis in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (14-17 June), the new unique variety Perovskia Bluesette, bred by PanAmerican Seed, will be jointly introduced by Florensis, Graines Voltz, and Ball (UK).

Perovskia Bluesette is the first and only compact branching and early Perovskia from seed and is a true alternative to vegetative varieties. The compact Bluesette is ideal for the premium market in patio containers or mixed combos but also works well at the front of the border.

Bluesette is a perfect addition to well-known perennial varieties like Lavandula and Salvia. This novelty type brings added value and appeals to various garden spaces. Being a strong performer with a great flowering appeal from summer into early autumn, Bluesette features ornamental foliage and a pleasing fragrance that attracts bees and butterflies. A controlled habit, early flowering, and early finishing make growing Bluesette for the consumer and landscape market super easy.

The new blues
Bluesette is named after a relatively unknown jazz reference. A bit like Perovskia, it’s the known unknown for most gardeners, a uniquely compact blue alternative next to the well-known blue varieties. With an extraordinary early flowering window, striking silver foliage, easy maintenance, drought tolerance, and a pollinator-friendly habit, it will provide a special touch in garden spaces!

Joint introduction
Proudly bred by PanAmerican Seed, this unique product will be jointly introduced at the FlowerTrials in week 24 by Florensis, Graines Voltz, and Ball (UK) as the New Blues concept. PanAmerican Seed and its partners believe in a strong partnership to bring added value to the whole chain, from grower to consumer. Introducing new, strong genetics like Bluesette is a great result of this close cooperation.
