Biimore biostimulant, obtains CE mark under the new EU regulation

Tradecorp, a company that provides biostimulation and sustainable crop nutrition, announced that its biostimulant Biimore has officially been registered in the European Union as a ‘non-microbial plant biostimulant’ under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation 2019/1009 (FPR), and will bear the CE mark. This makes Biimore the first Tradecorp biostimulant to receive the CE mark under this new regulation.

Biimore is an efficient biostimulant derived from biological fermentation, using a specific bacterial strain and an exclusive and sustainable plant fermentation process. This innovative solution has been used across a variety of over 25 strategic crops and different geographical areas in more than 180 agronomic trials, which have demonstrated the high efficacy of Biimore at ultra-low doses applied at fruit swell and development stage, increasing yield and fruit weight by up to 28% and 19%, respectively, and improving other quality parameters such as size, sugar content and shelf-life.

EU FPR and the CE mark
The EU Fertilising Products Regulation 2019/1009 (FPR) came into force on 16 July 2022, opening the European market for biostimulants. Whereas products previously required registration in individual EU member states, the FPR allows registered products bearing the CE mark to be marketed in all 27 EU member states.

Plant biostimulants with the CE mark are assessed by a Notified Body and deemed to have not only met the EU safety, health, and environmental protection requirements but also fulfilled the effects claimed on the labels through agronomic efficacy trials. This means that growers can be reassured that the biostimulants they are using are safe, effective, and quality products.

Biimore certification
Biimore was certified for efficiency and quality claims, including the ability to increase the fruit quality in terms of size, weight, sugar content, and shelf-life. The initial certification is for foliar application to woody perennials, and efficacy trials are currently underway to extend registration to horticultural and extensive crops.
