Colombia: Flores Silvestres strengthens its sustainability with photovoltaic energy

Flores Silvestres, together with Ziklo Solar, installed a 966 kWp solar system at their farms located in el Carmen de Viboral and in La Ceja, Antioquia, in Colombia. This project will save 11,990 tons of CO2 emissions. "Photovoltaic systems allow a reduction of up to 100% of the cost of the bill and a return on investment that can be seen in 2.5 years, depending on the size of the project and energy consumption."

Today, solar energy is undoubtedly one of the most efficient renewable technologies to fight the climate crisis. The change in habits has caused companies from all sectors to seek to transform their processes to integrate renewable energy systems in their facilities.

For this reason, Flores Silvestres, clearly committed to its workers, its customers, and sustainability, together with Ziklo Solar, a company specialized in design technology, supply, and installation of solar energy systems, began in 2022, an energy transition project that was carried out in their farms located in el Carmen de Viboral and in La Ceja, Antioquia in Colombia.

With the 966 kWp solar system, 11,990 tons of CO2 will be saved which is equivalent to 477 hectares of planted forest, more than 28,600,000 kilometers by car, and more than 1,300,000 gallons of gasoline consumed, maintained during the 25 years of the useful life of the project.

“We found a perfect strategic alliance with Ziklo Solar for the installation of our project, and we are very happy to be able to realize and show what we do with sustainability. One of the four fundamental pillars of Flores Silvestres is operational efficiency, which is why this project is one of the best ways to ensure stability and reduce polluting emissions, being environmentally responsible, which is what the most demanding markets require and thus will enable the company to last over time”, says Luis Jaime Sierra, president of Flores Silvestres.

Without a doubt, becoming a company that supports sustainability involves making long-term strategic decisions and actions. This was also stated by Alejandro Arbeláez, Innovation and Development Manager of Ziklo Solar highlights that the great benefits of being a sustainable and environmentally responsible company are greater every day. "Photovoltaic systems are a source that helps the development of new technologies at an industrial level, projects can be installed according to the energy needs of each client, which allows reducing up to 100% of the cost of the bill and the return on investment can be seen from 2.5 years depending on the size of the project and energy consumption."

With this as an objective, Flores Silvestres continues to consolidate its process of helping more Colombian companies enter the transition and use of clean energy, being the fundamental pillar that transforms society, the economy, and the environment in the world.
