Greenwheels places 'Flower Stations' throughout the Netherlands

In the run-up to National Climate Week, Greenwheels is placing 'Flower Stations' in 63 cities across the country: wooden houses filled with free flower seeds. They invite everyone to sow as many seeds as possible to create flowering, biodiverse greenhouses, tree beds, and roadsides in spring. With this, the car-sharing company is calling on the Netherlands to make neighborhoods more liveable and green together.

"Everyone can make a positive contribution to keep our planet liveable," said Michiel Cuppen, Greenwheels director. "At home, at work, but also in the neighborhood." The car-sharing company's mission - by reducing the number of private cars - is to make neighborhoods more liveable. In line with this, Greenwheels is placing 500 Flower Stations throughout the Netherlands in the run-up to National Climate Week (October 30 - November 5, 2023). These greenhouses can be found at various fixed Greenwheels car locations and contain bags of flower seeds ready to be sown immediately.

Sow the future
Green Flower Stations can be found in 63 locations in the Netherlands, including Alphen aan de Rijn, Deventer, Doorn, Eindhoven, Haarlem, Leeuwarden, Nijmegen, Voorschoten and Zwolle. They are made of sustainable, FSC-certified Douglas wood and are accompanied by Elho planters made of recycled plastic filled with MijnHedera ivy. The bags inside the houses are filled with marigold seeds. Sowing is very simple, but to ensure that as many marigolds as possible actually sprout, Greenwheels shares some sowing tips.
