China: 'Yunnan cut-roses export to Japan on the rise'

This week, 270 boxes with 15,000 cut roses were shipped from Kunming to Tokyo within 24 hours. Many of these were booked online in advance, and the rest will be sold by an auction center in Tokyo. Yunnan's cut roses are trendy here, with bids coming in almost every 5 seconds. After this, flowers will go to florists in Tokyo.

A trader from the Yunnan flower market says: "The selling quantity keeps increasing constantly. In the beginning, Japan asked for 7,000-8,000 stems a day, and now they ask for 15,000 stems. From December onwards, the exportation will be 90,000 stems per day."

Except for cut roses, the carnation also has been exported to Japan. According to the official data, China's flower import and export trade exceeded 2 billion RMB from January to September. The exportation of Yunnan's cut flower business keeps increasing, Japan imported 237 million cut flowers from China.
