New version of the MPS-List prohibited active substances 2025

The MPS-List prohibited active substances is part of the MPS-ABC certification standard. This list aims to reduce the use of substances that are harmful to humans and the environment, thus contributing to a more sustainable ornamental horticulture sector. With this message, MPS-List would like to draw attention to two matters regarding the MPS-List prohibited active substances.

Last year, it was communicated that eight new prohibited active substances were being added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of 21 April 2025 (P5 2025). This means that as of this date, audits will be conducted against the most recent version of the list. The substances are Brodifacoum, Oxamyl, Bromadiolone, Difenacoum, Difethialone, Flocoumafen, Bromophos-ethyl, and Coumatetralyl.

In addition, the following substances will be added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of P5 2026. These substances are being added to the list because they appear on at least two of the following lists:

POP: The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
PIC: The Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent
PAN: Dirty Dozen
EPA: Banned or Severely Restricted Pesticides
EU: Pesticide Database Non-Approved Pesticides
WHO: Class Ia and Ib lists

The substances are tributyltin oxide, dimoxystrobin, ipconazole, and methoxychlor.

If you are still using these substances, MPS will help you in different ways to reduce their use to zero before they are added to the list.
