The team of T.C. v.d. Dool is working hard at SK Quality Roses. On May 11, they started with lifting the greenhouse, building a new facility and installing the lighting. On June 19, the new roses will arrive, so everything needs to be finished by then.
From left to right: Marc Koene, Vincent van den Dool and Bas Koene, discussing the progress of the project.
Vincent van den Dool: "It's a nice challenge. All parties are cooperating very well. We've already raised the height of the greenhouse, and new columns are being placed at the moment. Our guys are working on this side and the guys for lighting on the other. In this way, they don't disturb each other and it's going well."
The greenhouse for SK Roses will be raised by 1.75 meters to 6 meters. This raise was needed for the lighting. Lights of 14.000 lux. will be installed. Therefore, the distance to the crop needs to be enlarged. The climate can also be controlled better.
Marc, Bas and Sjaak Koene have 1.6 ha in Den Hoorn. On June 19. they will start cultivating Avalanche roses. The Avalanche is known for its high quality and characterized by its long stem, long flowering period and the large bright white head. SK Quality Roses has been growing these flowers for five years now and supplies them in different lengths. The flowers are cultivated at two locations in The Netherlands; De Lier and Den Hoorn.
