European delegates headed to England to learn about UK’s ornamentals sector

From Holland and Belgium and Germany to Denmark, delegates from across Europe headed to England to find out more about the UK’s ornamentals sector.

As part of a three-day visit to various sites in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire, members of Copa-Cogeca’s working party on plants and flowers met with several UK businesses to explore exciting new technologies, processes and to share best practice.

The event kicked off at the Kenilworth Castle and was followed by an Opening reception at the Gatehouse within the castle's grounds. The second day saw delegates taking to the road for a tour of ornamentals nurseries.

The first visit was to Baginton’s and the second visit to Young Plants. After lunch, the third visit took the group to Borden Hill, where they could learn more about the techniques of producing young plants. The final nursery visit was to Ball Colegrave, which was preparing for its annual Summer Open Day.

The visit culminated with a more formal gathering at NFU HQ on the final day, which was an opportunity for the working group to discuss a number of issues affecting the sector both in this country and across the European Union.
