New ZenPlug for easy transplanting of pre-rooted cuttings, tissue culture

Grow-Tech announces the launch of its newest product, ZenPlug™ (patent pending), for easy transplanting of tissue culture starts and pre-rooted cuttings. The open plug shape allows for the precise and rapid placement of large callused plants, such as orchids and trees, in the center of the plug. The plug’s unique multi-surfaced interior holds roots firmly but gently in place and provides young plants with the optimal environment for root growth.

Edwin Dijkshoorn, CEO of Grow-Tech, says, “What drives our product design is solving grower challenges. The ZenPlug is the next step in reducing labor issues when handling rooted tissue cultures such as orchids without compromising healthy growth. The soft growing media and the uniquely open shape of this rooting device makes it easy to wrap growing media around roots instead of ‘squeezing’ them in a rooting media. It is like wrapping a baby in a blanket.”

When transplanting tissue culture, protection of roots and callus is critical. Balancing the need for delicacy with speed and efficiency can be tricky and stressful. The ZenPlug, however, can be easily folded around fragile roots with a single hand motion. Access to multiple surfaces at the time of transplant allows for easy spreading of roots in the plug. This results in enhanced surface contact between the roots and the growing medium and improved growth of the plant as it is less likely to experience transplant shock.

Grow-Tech is proud of this addition to its FlexiPlug® line of stabilized growing media. They will be showcasing the ZenPlug at Cultivate ’16 in Columbus, OH from July 9th-12th. Come see them at Booth #1700!
