US: New England Greenhouse Floriculture Guide 2017-2018 available

The 2017-18 edition of the New England Greenhouse Floriculture Guide (Insects, Diseases, Weeds and Growth Regulators) will be available to attendees of the Northeast Greenhouse Conference (Nov. 9-10, 2016) at a special conference price of $30 per copy. The Guide is updated every two years by floriculture faculty and staff from the six New England State Universities, and is published by New England Floriculture, Inc. After the conference, it will be available for $40 per copy.

About the Guide
A comprehensive guide for commercial production of greenhouse ornamentals with information on current pest management and growth regulators. Recommendations include IPM and biological control information for greenhouse crops.

This manual is a compilation of input from the members of the New England State University Extension Systems of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island and Raymond Cloyd, Kansas State University.

New for 2017
In addition to updated recommendations, the new edition presents:
  • An updated discussion of Best Management Practices to minimize the threat to bees and other pollinators.
  • An update on OSHA’s Worker Protection Standard, reflecting the changes that will become effective in January 2017. This information is invaluable to all greenhouse owners and pesticide handlers.
  • A greatly expanded section on biological controls, which provides details for beginners as well as for experienced pest managers looking for new research-based information.
The Guide is designed to provide commercial growers with technical information on pest management (weeds, diseases and insects) and growth regulators. Because this is a publication written by professionals from throughout New England, and rewritten every two years, it reflects the current collective knowledge for greenhouse crops for this region. Published by New England Floriculture, Inc., sponsor of the Northeast Greenhouse Conference.
