As sales of a new variety run smoothly, breeders often add new varieties and call it a product line or a family. That is also what Continental Breeding did with their spray rose line Bellalinda. During the last IFTF exhibition in Vijfhuizen, the Netherlands, Bellalinda Glee and Bellalinda Cruella, grown by Subati, Kenya were introduced, expanding the family. "They caught they eye of many visitors and they obtained excellent response by the clients", says Juan Demian Requena of Continental Breeding.

Garden shape and vase life
“As in the case of Mayra’s Rose Family, Bellalinda is our spray line whose sum of their characteristics make them different to anything on the market today; characteristics like their garden shape and excellent life vase among others”, says Requena.

Strong market reception
In Kenya, the spray roses of this rose breeder are grown at farms like Subati, Red Lands Roses and Golden Tulip. “Initially, two of the Bellalinda varieties were introduced by Red Lands Roses two years ago, more or less at the same time like in South America, obtaining a strong market reception, like the Chinese market in the case of Bellalinda Brick, a red spray with strong petals whose vase life is more than two weeks easily.”

Bellalinda Cerise is the other one. "This variety is characterized by long stem, around 60-80 cm and also an excellent vase life."

At Subati
“During our last visit in Subati (Kenya), we had the opportunity to walk along excellent crops of Bellalinda varieties, not only composed by varieties previously mentioned, but also new ones like Bellalinda Kiss, a pink one already introduced in South America with excellent results, as well as Bellalinda Cruella and Bellalinda Glee", says Requena. According to Mr. Ghashyam Dusang of Subati, the agronomic characteristics of these commercial novelties are as good as the existing Bellalindas varieties.
