Opti-flor officially opened its seventh cultivation location in a festive manner. The opening was done, with personnel and other invitees present, by the mayor of the Westland, Bouke Arends. With the 2.5 hectare extension, Opti-flor now has 17 hectares in total of horticulture land for growing the Phalaenopsis.
The employees of Opti-flor were asked to come up with a name for the new location. In the end the contribution 'Design' by Ted van Kester, sales manager of the company, won. The name is completely in line with the names of the other six locations: Grandi-flora, Midi-flora, Multi-flora, Specials, Creations, and Research and Development.
Rene Hendriks, one of the owners of Opti-Flor, conducted the opening ceremony together with Mayor Arends. He called on the Mayor to take up the challenge, together with him and other growers, to make horticulture more attractive for young, enthusiast people. Hendriks: "Joining together is the motto here. We have a challenge to have young people from the Westland work here and become entrepreneurs."
