Four Brothers Farms introduces Flower Globe:

Mexico: Fresh rose in a globe going global

What started as a loving gesture, developed into a main product for Mexican rose farm Four Brothers Farms: the Flower Globe. 1.5 years ago, they introduced a fresh rose in a globe to the market, that will last for 90 days. According to Taylor Sparks of Greenleaf Wholesale, it is really taking off at supermarkets in the United States.

A fresh rose for Maria
The first original Rose Globe was created by Amando Cortez Mendoza. Each morning Amando would wake up at dawn to hand-pick the perfect rose for his wife Maria from their farm in Mexico. He would then return and place it by her bedside table so that she would awaken each day with a smile. As years quickly passed, he grew older and was not able to make the long journey to the fields every day. Determined to make each roses beauty last in between his trips, Amando developed a way to maintain each one for her enjoyment much longer using an old snow globe he took apart and added some flower food.

Long-lasting
Four Brother Farms is the Mexican based operation center owned by Greenleaf Wholesale Florist, a sister company to our Kitayama Brothers Farm in Watsonville, CA. The flowers used in the Flower Globes are grown at their farm in Mexico and the flower globes are made at the farms as well. Each rose is hand picked and hand-painted then placed in the globe with water containing preservatives. At the PMA Fresh Summit, Greenleaf Wholesale brought some examples of Flower Globes. “All roses are grown in Mexico. A liquid flower food solution in the globe will make the rose last for three to six months with proper care.”

Increasing demand
1.5 years ago, they introduced the first globes to the mass market in the US. The demand has been increasing at a rapid pace as more and more stores are being introduced to this item. But what is the reason for this increase? "Customers are now getting familiar with it. It can be used for all occasions and it is an attractively priced impulsive buy that is perfect for supermarkets.”

Expanding markets
The Flower Globe is currently only available in the US, but will soon also be available in Europe. At the IFTF 2019, that took place in Vijfhuizen, the Netherlands, last November, Greenleaf presented their products for the first time in the Netherlands.
