Russia: Morshansk greenhouse boasts Dutch tulips

It is already visible how beautiful the flowerbeds of Morshansk will look like in the coming summer. The first buds have sprung out in the greenhouse, delivering produce for town decoration.

Primroses are the first ones to start blooming. The growers produce primroses of all sorts of colors here. Even a small pot is a lovely alternative to a traditional bouquet for the International Women’s Day. Moreover, it will last a lot longer as new flowers will keep opening.

Next to primroses, there ripen just as colorful cyclamens and cineraria, the latter known to the city dwellers as the most popular variety in city flower beds.

“We filtered the world bestsellers to the conditions of our region as not all flowers can be grown here”, mentioned Ms. Irina Gridneva, the flower grower.

Currently Irina can compete with the most experienced growers. In the beginning of her career, Ms. Gridneva relied on school knowledge of biology and now many years of experience give her confidence. Over 15 years ago, Mr. Andrey Gridnev, Irina’s husband, constructed the greenhouse and since then has not been presenting flowers to his wife.

“I would definitely not be happy with such a present. On the other hand, if I didn’t grow flowers, I would probably become bankrupt as I would keep buying all this beautiful greenery”, shares Ms. Gridneva.

Hard labor precedes the aesthetic beauty. Luckily, the growers managed to automate the seedling process, using their own technology.

“Thus we managed to achieve uniformity in the seedling process”, noted Ms. Gridneva.

By the middle of the spring the greenhouse will be flourishing. Meanwhile, the time of tulips is approaching. 42 varieties straight from the Netherlands, gave good crops here.
