AgriGarden boosts TC young plant production in China

AgriGarden, a turnkey horti-project solution provider with 18 years of experience setting up high-tech horticulture projects across China, has selected VIVI from the Viscon Group company to build high-tech and highly automated tissue culture laboratories in strategically chosen locations within China.

Laurie Liu, business development manager in AgriGarden said, “The demand for clean and healthy starting material is rapidly growing all over the world. Rabobank published an article earlier, in which they state that 16 trillion healthy and clean young plants are needed every year, whereas the total global production of healthy and clean young plants is only 2 billion. By working with VIVI and setting up multiple high-tech tissue culture facilities we can fill the gap in the Chinese market.”

AgriGarden plans to build several tissue culture VIVI labs in the year 2021. Meanwhile, AgriGarden, together with Dutch Greenhouse builder Ammerlaan Construction, is building several large high-tech greenhouses in locations across China. These greenhouses are mostly also close to the VIVI laboratories.

Big opportunities for tissue culture business in the Chinese market
China is the fastest-growing market in the world and has a very high demand for fruits and flowers. A lot of the starting material for flowers and fruits is still being imported at the moment. However, boosted by the outbreak of the Coronavirus a trend can be detected where countries wish to be more self-sufficient. The same applies to growers. Growers can no longer rely on a foreign supply of healthy and clean starting material. Besides the growing local demand, China still is a very attractive country for international orientated young plant producers to have their operations. From China it is very easy to export. The Asian market allows plants to be shipped from China to other Asian countries, which is a very interesting market for a lot of companies.

Do you want to expand your young plant business into China?
By selecting VIVI (a Viscon Group Company) as a supplier for the new Tissue Culture laboratories, AgriGarden can create the perfect environment for any tissue culture company that wants to be active in China.

AgriGarden is looking for international parties that want to operate the TC labs built by Agrigarden. The cooperation model between AgriGarden and the potential partner will be discussed and clarified in private.

By creating a high-tech and high-quality environment, AgriGarden can ensure the young plant growers that they have the best start possible. Local Chinese investors will make the required investments to create all the necessary facilities.

Dr. Wei Lingling, the owner of AgriGarden, also mentioned that for a lot of companies it can be a very big challenge to start their own tissue culture lab in China. The foreign parties have challenges with finding a location, people and at the same time want to protect their own genetics. By facilitating and creating the ideal environment for young plant producers/breeders, we take away all these problems and are able to offer them the perfect start.
