Germany: 10th anniversary of the Landgard Cash & Carry in Nuremberg

On April 17, Landgard Cash & Carry looked back on their ten years in Nuremberg with a festive event that was adapted to the corona regulations. The market was rebuilt in 2010/2011, opened on April 17, 2011 and has grown continuously over the past ten years. Today the 12,800 square meters store has more than 1,000 customers, 14 employees, market partners Floristik and Bloomways and a spacious customer loading hall. It ensures the supply of flower shops, garden centers, landscape gardeners and cemetery gardeners, municipal companies and other companies active in the green sector. This makes the Nuremberg market a successful and important cash & carry market in southeast Germany.

The anniversary was very well attended by almost 700 visitors. Since the visits were evenly distributed over the entire opening time between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m., it was still not overcrowded and all necessary protective and hygiene measures could be obeyed without any problems. This also meant that the customers in all units of the market were permanently counted so that the maximum number of visitors present at the same time was not exceeded.

Store manager Barry Duwel and his team had to come up with something special for customers for the anniversary. With a card that was sent with the invitation to the anniversary, guests could try to open a safe on the anniversary day and get a chance to win one of the many prizes that were in it. Several customers won shopping vouchers between 50 and 1,000 euros and a voucher for a seminar from the seminar program of FDF Bavaria.

On the anniversary day in the Nuremberg market, customers were presented with many attractive offers from the extensive range. In addition, they had the opportunity to test the various Landgard web shops, to get to know the advertising material for the current sales concepts and to find out about the portfolio of Landgard horticultural supplies. At Bloomways, the pink carpet was rolled out in front of the branch and every tenth customer received a gift basket with Italian specialties.

Store manager Barry Duwel was very satisfied at the end of the event: “Despite the difficult conditions caused by Corona, we managed to organize a wonderful anniversary day for our producers, customers and, of course, ourselves. Many thanks to our customers for their visit and to our suppliers, gardeners and service partners who, with their financial support, have made the anniversary a success. Many thanks, of course, to our employees who mastered this day as a team."

The Landgard specialist trade on the way into the future Landgard is pushing ahead with the expansion and modernization of the Cash & Carry stores operated by Landgard Fachhandel GmbH & Co. Landgard already operates two future markets at the company's headquarters in Straelen-Herongen and Neuss, and other existing markets are currently under development to become future markets.

To expand its activities in Austria, Landgard is also opening a Landgard Cash & Carry future market in the state Linz in Upper Austria with a total area of over 6,300 square meters. If the further development of the corona pandemic allows, the opening of the market is planned for autumn 2021. With the new store in Linz, the Cash & Carry store network will consist of 32 markets, including 30 in Germany and two in Austria.

One of the most important conceptual developments that will be implemented in Linz for the first time is the operation of the store as a combined location. There will be a combination of the plant market, Bloomways, decoration and florist needs and horticultural needs under one roof, without spatial separation.
