Hassinger Orchideen moves to new location in the center of German horticulture industry

Hassinger Orchideen, a German grower of in vitro cups, young plants, semi-finished and finished orchids, recently moved to a new location. "Not only the improved demand has made this possible, but the strict sustainability rules and the location made them decide to go for this new greenhouse in Nettetal, explains Iris Hassinger, Sales Manager Young Plants at the company. At this new location, they will also hold their open days, from June 14–18. "We can't wait to show our products in 'real-life' again."

New location in the center of the German horticulture industry
Luckily, the demand for orchids has been better than in previous years as a result of people staying at home more, Hassinger reports. Yet that is not the main reason for opening their new location. “Germany is quite strict concerning sustainability and this new greenhouse provides more flexibility for us, as we are now able to have updated heating systems, for example. Also, it is located in Nettetal, which is about 15 km from Venlo. This is an advantage for us as it is really close to the marketplace and in the center of the German horticulture industry. Therefore, it is much easier for us to organize our purchase and logistics. We can now also do our own breeding trials of the Phalaenopsis there and have a dedicated area to test new varieties, which we are excited about.”

Open days
Hassinger explains that the cancellations of events, such as the Flower Trials, have been challenging for their company. “As a result of the canceled Flower Trials we were left with unused plants in the cooling, which we originally reserved to showcase at the event. Moreover, as a breeding company, it is important for Hassinger Orchideen to present its new varieties at events. “Showcasing a flowering plant in real life is much more effective than through pictures or videos. Therefore, we have to react to the current situation, as we cannot just stop marketing our new products. So we decided to hold our own in-person open days from June 14–18, 2021. Everyone can come, take a look at our new varieties and our new location.”

By holding their own open days, Hassinger takes the opportunity for growers and producers to evaluate the new assortment in a personal and sage way. At their open days, they will also be showing their new Sunrise Series – Phalaenopsis varieties for every pot size from 6 cm to 12 cm in the color of a sunrise. When warmed by the sun, these flowers give off a summery lemon scent.
