Hort Science Online 2021 has gone live on 18 October with a platform comprising 5 zones containing practical and informative content on a broad spectrum of technical and topical subjects.
“New interactive features mean participants can navigate content at ease, watch presentations at their leisure and gain NRoSO and/or BASIS CPD points,” explains Adam Ferjani, ICL’s Marketing Communications Manager. “Many presentations have been filmed at working nurseries or at the Barn4, NIAB’s Agritech incubator, a new purpose-built facility for start-up agritech businesses.”
The Sustainable Growing Media Zone is the place to go for presentations exploring peat-free ingredients, their key features, and how to optimize their performance, as well as for tips on how to fine-tune potting machinery to get the best results.
The Nurture Zone features product innovations and practices to tailor and optimize crop nutrition. ICL’s knowledgeable technical team takes you through the latest generation products – including Osmoform N and Osmocote High N - to optimize crop nutrition in sustainable growing media. Participants can explore the science behind Peters Professional and Peters Excel water-soluble fertilizers and see ICL’s AngelaWeb 3 precision nutrition tool put through its paces.
The Osmocote GreenLab showcases Osmocote 5, the new generation of controlled-release fertilizers. Learn how it overcomes the specific nutritional challenges presented by sustainable growing media and see for yourself how Osmocote 5 is performing in trials.
The Plant Protection Zone shines the spotlight on biostimulants and ICL’s Plant Health Planner. It also features a practical session on vine weevil control, focusing on the timing of nematode and Pitcher applications to optimize control of this potentially devastating pest.
The Knowledge Hub shines the spotlight on an array of topical subjects including packaging waste, with Josh Remi of Ecoveritas exploring the UK legislative landscape including extended producer responsibility and the plastic tax and deposit return scheme. HTA policy manager Sally Cullimore and Johnsons of Whixley’s Jonathan Whittemore discuss key changes and challenges of cross-border trade with the EU with journalist Rachel Anderson.
