Selecta to showcase colorful varieties at IPM 2024

"Our heart beats green" – the new IPM slogan for the 2024 anniversary edition hits the mark. For the German breeding company and young plant producer Selecta one, it is also a matter of heart to be present at the IPM with its products.

"IPM is the most important trade fair in the green sector and, as a long-term exhibitor, we value it as a platform for showcasing our new and established products and meeting important national and international partners from production and trade. This personal dialogue with decision-makers is an essential part of the year for us, which we are very much looking forward to," says Klaus Gaumann, Director of Marketing & Product Management at Selecta one.

Selecta one will be showing the latest highlights and developments in the product range at its usual location in Hall 2 Stand D21. New products, proven varieties, and marketing concepts will be presented in an area of 220 m², as well as new and further developed projects in the pot plant and cut flower segments.

One in Dianthus stands for pot and cut carnations, known on the market for their excellent quality and for fulfilling all requirements. In addition to PINK KISSES®, the best-selling single variety, and Oscar®, the most successful series, other highlights from Selecta's wide range will also be on display. "Aura" is a successful new introduction with a special charisma. With strong, upright growth and bright pink flowers with a white edge, the new stand-alone carnation is suitable for large pots and various other product types.

"Star of the Year" - this award was given by Selecta to its poinsettia variety "Christmas Universe." The intensely dark red Christmas Universe has far exceeded all expectations since its market launch: universally applicable, suitable for all market segments, different climate zones, and all pot sizes, it has quickly become a worldwide success.

Two promising red varieties have been added to the Selecta "Competence in Red" range: "Royal Christmas," a vigorous variety with strong stems that is suitable for many product types, and "Christmas Night," an easy-to-produce variety that develops color early. Also new is "Christmas Aquarell," which, with its unique color and vigorous growth, offers an important addition to the range of special colors.

For the first time, Selecta will be showing two other crops at the IPM that are suitable both as flowering houseplants and as outdoor plantings. Kaleida, Selecta's Kalanchoe series, includes single and double-flowering varieties that are characterized by beautiful large flowers, bright colors, a rich, long-lasting flowering habit, and strong branching.

KoSea is the new Campanula perennial series in the Selecta range. The three varieties in blue and white are compact and easy to grow, can be used in a variety of ways, and also look great as decorative plants in interiors. Two perfect year-round plants.

Spring Annuals
In the bedding and balcony plant sector, various specialties were introduced in 2023, which Selecta will now also be presenting for the first time at IPM 2024:

The new intergeneric series "The Power Sisters" combines the best of Calibrachoa and Petunia: Large, early flowers, good branching, and bright colors, as well as good summer performance and high rain tolerance. The three Power Sisters are Pretty Pam (pink), Wonder Wendy (white), and Bandit Betty (blue) and are also available as a Trixi® combination.

New Mandevillas, which are marketed under the name "Divina" with their own marketing concept, stand for beauty and radiant elegance on the balcony and in the garden. Subdivided into Compact, Climbing, and Uni, each series offers special advantages for end products in different shapes and pot sizes.

Lantanas from the Sun Juana series defy the sun, manage with little water, and present their extraordinary world of color. The Playa Sun Juana variety impresses with its special play of colors - yellow, orange, pink, and magenta. It stands out with its large flowers, strong branching, and round structure, as well as its easy-to-care character.

Plants of the future
The Selecta marketing concepts Planta Morgana and Nature Garden respond to current trends such as heat-resistant, drought-tolerant, and insect-friendly plants.

Planta Morgana is the answer to the increasing demand for flowering plants that cope well with hot and dry periods. The concept includes plants that have performed particularly well in drought tests. Nature Garden offers a colorful selection from the Selecta range that is particularly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

With Autumn Friends, the Selecta recommendations for plant combinations of perennials and pot carnations, grasses, herbs, and lavender, almost unlimited possibilities open up for growers. Whether producing individual pots, smaller bowls, or mixed containers, any creative idea can be realized with the flexible combination options of Autumn Friends, with the advantage that a uniform root pattern is formed when the young plants are cultivated together from the potting date.
