Pasadena Tournament of Roses announces 2026 theme

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses newly installed President Mark Leavens, announced the 2026 theme, "The Magic in Teamwork." The theme celebrates the sense of accomplishment in knowing that by working together, we can collectively achieve outcomes so much richer than we can ever experience as individuals.

The 2026 theme poster honors the organizations, agencies and community partners that make America's New Year Celebration possible. Embroidered team patches from public safety partners, service organizations, and other parade participants reflect the teamwork demonstrated in working toward a common goal, to overcome challenges and produce amazing results. The poster embodies "The Magic in Teamwork"—not just in grand achievements, but in everyday moments of support, encouragement and shared success.

Chosen months ago, the 2026 Rose Parade theme, "The Magic in Teamwork," feels especially meaningful in light of recent events in the Pasadena area. As our community has faced challenges, from the devastating fires in Altadena to the everyday triumphs and struggles that bring people together, we've witnessed firsthand the power of teamwork—neighbors helping neighbors, first responders working tirelessly and volunteers stepping up in extraordinary ways. This theme is a tribute to the strength, resilience and connection that arise when we come together, proving that the magic in teamwork is not just an idea but a reality we live every day.

Earlier this month, the Tournament of Roses' Board of Directors confirmed Leavens as President and Chairman of the Board for the 2026 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, providing leadership for the 137th Rose Parade presented by Honda and 112th Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

The Tournament of Roses also announced the 2025-2026 leadership and organizational structure.

The Executive Committee elected Jim Ciampa to serve as the Association's President in 2033. He has been a volunteer Member since 1996 and will provide leadership for the 144th Rose Parade and 119th Rose Bowl Game on January 1, 2033.

Ciampa has been a dedicated member of the Tournament of Roses since 1996, with the 1997 Parade marking the first of his 28 consecutive Rose Parades. Since becoming a committee chair in 2014, he has led several key committees, including Tournament Entries, Coronation/VIP Tailgate, Television/Radio, Equestrian and Parade Operations. Beyond his commitment to the Tournament, Ciampa coached numerous youth sports and was a Cub Scout leader. He also is an avid rugby enthusiast and helped establish the Pasadena Youth Rugby Program, to grow the sport in the community.

In addition, the following officers were elected to serve with Ciampa on the 14-member Executive Committee: Terry Madigan, Executive Vice President; Pam Knapp, Treasurer and Craig Washington, Secretary. Ed Morales, President of the 2025 Tournament of Roses, serves as Immediate Past President. Re-elected to the Executive Committee as Vice Presidents are Jason Melillo, Ruth Martinez-Baenen and Greg Custer.

Five At-Large Members are elected to the Executive Committee, each serving a two-year term. This year, the organization expresses its gratitude to the outgoing At-Large Members—Alain Camiling (deceased), Steve Darden and Eve Santillan—for their dedication and contributions to the Association. Continuing into their second year of service, Rafael Sanchez III and Charlotte Bland will be joined by newly elected At-Large Members Susan Marasco, Nanette Fish and Quinn Tang.
