Philippines: From flower seller to premier farm destination

From starting as a simple flower seller in Dangwa, Dimasalang, Manila, over the past twenty-five years, Lany Ganayan and her family did not anticipate that Northern Blossom would grow into a major flower farm destination. Since early 2018, it has attracted thousands of foreign and domestic tourists.

Northern Blossom is the name of Ganayan's flower shop in Manila, named after the Benguet calla lily that thrives only in the highlands. This name now also belongs to the famous flower farm, which has become a premier tourist destination not only in the municipality but across the entire northern part of the country.

In 1998, Ganayan and her family started by selling flowers at their Northern Blossom Flower Shop in Dangwa. They expanded in 2002 to become cut flower farmers in the municipality.

"We are fortunate because our conducive weather and high elevation allow us to plant imported varieties that thrive well here. We did not expect that our efforts in flower production would make us a major tourist destination," Ganayan emphasized.
