Vietnamese man sells 5,000 flower samples thanks to "being handsome"

The Vice Chairman of Gao Hui Commune, Tianjiang District, Chongqing (China) livestreamed to help people sell millions of peonies that were at risk of being destroyed by hail.

Thanks to these livestreams, Xu Chang, 34 years old, Vice Chairman of Cao Hoi Commune, has become the most sought-after "peony face" on Chinese social networks since the end of April.

In mid-April, the temperature in Gaohui suddenly exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, causing all 5,000 acres of peonies in the area to bloom simultaneously, instead of in batches as usual. Before they could be sold, a hailstorm hit on the evening of April 18. Luckily, the flowers were not damaged, but the cold storage was full, and the sea of flowers in the fields was at risk of being dumped.

"Time was so tight, we didn't know what to do," recalled Ms. Xu Mei, Head of the Commune's Rural Affairs Department. While everyone was still struggling, Vice Chairman Xu Chang suggested "going out to the streets to sell flowers!"
