US: The Barn Nursery saw its greenhouses damaged by hailstorms ahead of Mother's Day

When it comes to Mother's Day, The Barn Nursery is typically bustling with customers picking out flowers and gifts. But last week, the staff was dealing with more than just plants — they were cleaning up after a powerful hailstorm that ripped through the area on Thursday, leaving widespread damage to their greenhouses.

The storm brought hail "about the size of a dime," according to Barn Nursery staff member Tristan Crabtree, who said the icy barrage punctured the plastic roofing across every greenhouse on the property.

Crabtree says, when crews arrived in the morning, they found sharp plastic scattered everywhere and a significant number of damaged plants.

Despite the chaos, cleanup efforts began immediately. "At least 20 people showed up at six o'clock in the morning," said Crabtree. "They started cleaning the area, cleaning the plants, making it as safe as possible for all the customers and the animals."
