UK: HTA inviting applications for non-executive board roles

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is inviting applications for Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to join its Board and help shape the future of the UK's £38 billion environmental horticulture sector.

Representing 1,350 businesses across garden retail, growing, landscaping, design, manufacturing and supply, the HTA is a leading voice of a green and growing industry. It delivers political representation, insights, commercial support, and collaboration for members, alongside running the National Garden Gift Scheme, which secures around £40 million of consumer spend in the sector annually.

This is a rare opportunity to join a forward-looking Board, working alongside passionate leaders from across horticulture, business, and governance, and contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation at the heart of UK Environmental Horticulture.

Will Armitage, HTA President, said: "We're looking for individuals with strong strategic skills, sector insight or governance experience, and a real passion for supporting UK environmental horticulture. Our Non-Executive Directors will play a vital role in ensuring the HTA continues to be a trusted and effective voice for our members.

"We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the full breadth of our membership. We're looking for non-Executive Directors who can demonstrate integrity, curiosity, and the desire to make a positive impact."

The voluntary Non-Executive Director (NED) roles are available to individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a particular focus on those who bring expertise in various fields. These fields include commercial horticulture, garden retail, or landscape services; finance, audit, or investment; IT systems and emerging technologies; membership organizations or trade associations; and governance and legal compliance. The organization seeks individuals who can contribute valuable insights and skills in these areas, enhancing the board's overall effectiveness.

Directors will serve a three-year term, with expenses reimbursed, and are expected to attend four Board meetings and one Annual General Meeting (AGM) per year, with occasional involvement in strategy or committee work.

Interested candidates should send a CV and covering letter to [email protected]. Interviews are expected to take place during July. Informal conversations ahead of applying are welcome.
