250 guests from all over the world convened for a day of reflection, inspiration, and connection

Plantec celebrates 35th anniversary

In a heartfelt celebration that brought together pioneers of the past and leaders of the present, Plantec marked its 35th anniversary with an unforgettable event in Cumbayá, Ecuador.

Surrounded by industry professionals from across the globe, the ceremony honored not just a milestone in years, but a legacy built on the enduring beauty of the rose.

More than 250 guests — including breeders, growers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, and retired visionaries who helped shape the floral industry; convened for a day of reflection, inspiration, and connection. From the first warm greeting to the final toast, the event was a vivid reminder of the strength and unity of the global floral community.

Welcomed with gratitude
The celebration opened with a welcoming speech by Plantec's founder and president, Carlos Krell whose words resonated with gratitude, humility, and hope. He reflected on the company's journey — from humble beginnings to becoming a flag head in international floral trade - and recognized the people and values that made the 35-year story possible.

"This is not just a celebration of a company — it's a celebration of everyone who has ever believed in the power of flowers to transform lives, communities, and moments," – Carlos Krell.

Voices from around the world
Following the opening, guests were treated to a series of powerful presentations from speakers representing diverse corners of the floral industry — including Alejandra Martinez (Ecuador), Jose Antonio Restrepo (Colombia), Clement Tulezi Atitwa (Kenya), Martin Altamirano (Europe), and Patrick Dahlson (USA).

These sessions delved into a variety of compelling themes, including the evolution of consumer preferences and the resilience of farms amid shifting global dynamics. Additionally, they examined the innovation in logistics and sustainability crucial to the modern agricultural landscape.

Focusing on Ecuadorian Innovation, branding, and data, Alejandro Martinez President of Expoflores showcased the Ecuadorian Perspective on incoming trends.

Each speaker brought unique insights shaped by years of experience — blending practical data with personal reflections and regional contrasts. The exchange was not just educational, but deeply energizing, sparking conversations that would carry well into the evening.

A toast to the industry
As the sun set, guests transitioned to a beautifully curated cocktail hour surrounded by hundreds of flowers and dozens of different varieties. With extravagant finger foods, flowing drinks, and gentle music, the atmosphere felt both celebratory and intimate. Old friends reunited, new collaborations were born, and a shared sense of pride filled the air.

It was during this moment that many attendees commented on what made the event so special: a rare chance for the industry to come together not around competition or commerce — but community.

A night to remember
With photos capturing old reunions, and new friendships, Plantec was honored that the industry was able to dedicate a night to help us celebrate and grow with our dear clients and close friends.

It was a night where industry titans, and founders who too the first steps that created the industry of today walked together with new generations and shared the hope of what is yet to come.

Plantec also took the opportunity to commemorate the relationships it has with the international rose breeders it represents.

The 35th anniversary was not just a reflection on the past — it was a renewed commitment to the future. A future where innovation meets tradition, and where flowers continue to serve as silent ambassadors of human emotion across borders.

As one guest put it: "You don't just see the years in Plantec — you feel them. In every bloom, every handshake, every shared story."
