Jürgen Gerdvordermark (Kötterheinrich Hortensienkulturen), Robert Wacker and Bruno Ribeiro (Media Concept Schweiz AG) received the Flowers and Plants – Breeding or Concept of the Year trophy from the board of Veiling Rhein-Maas (Günther Esser, Cees Hoekstra).
This year, the TASPO Awards celebrated their 20th anniversary. On Friday, 25 October 2025, more than 400 people from all areas of horticulture and the horticultural trade gathered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin for the ceremonial presentation of the awards.

With Hydrangea paniculata "Bloomulus", Kötterheinrich Hortensienkulturen has developed a variety that originates from HBA breeding and already produces four to seven flowers in a 14 cm pot. Its compact growth makes it ideal for combination plantings in bowls or boxes, significantly expanding the range of uses for hydrangeas.
The jury praised the combination of innovative genetics with high consumer benefits and the expressive marketing concept. This variety group appeals to urban gardeners as well as ambitious hobby gardeners. In times of rising logistics costs, the compact growth habit is particularly noteworthy for loading CC containers. Bloomulus is equally suitable for specialist retailers and chain stores, as for the first time the impulse purchase concept is at the forefront for Hydrangea paniculata.
