Terra Nova introduces new Pretty Tasty "edimental"

Terra Nova Nurseries has debuted its brand-new Fragaria Pretty, Tasty 'Ruby'. This new "edimental" introduction lives up to its name, producing clusters of red berries for months on end.

Fragaria Pretty, Tasty 'Ruby' offers a Terra Nova twist to berries with large, red-red flowers reminiscent of miniature roses; its blooms create a striking contrast against the plant's sturdy strawberry foliage. Designed for both beauty and performance, 'Ruby' brings ornamental appeal and edible interest to full-sun gardens, hanging baskets and strawberry pots. It also presents strong ecological benefits for wildlife and attracts pollinators to gardens and landscapes.

Terra Nova's Pretty, Tasty 'Ruby' grows with a fast, clumping habit, reaching a height of 10", width of 14" and flower height of 10". It grows most actively in spring and performs best in loose, well-draining, organically rich soil, with a recommended 1-2 inches of water per week.

Finishing growers should allow Pretty, Tasty 'Ruby' to dry slightly between waterings during finishing time in the greenhouse. The expected finish time from a liner to a 4-inch pot is four to six weeks; finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is eight to 10 weeks. USDA Hardiness Zones for this sweet and charming addition to Terra Nova's lineup of plants are 4-9.
