US (IN): IMA greenhouse to close as retail shop

Ever since the Indianapolis Museum of Art instituted an admission policy that restricted access to the gardens and grounds, rumors have been swirling about the future of the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse.

The greenhouse is where many gardeners found unusual annuals, native perennials and shrubs, exotic orchids and begonias, as well as garden accessories, holiday ornaments, note cards and other fun items. With the changes, though, visitors couldn’t get to the greenhouse without paying admission, and then only on foot or via a tram. Not exactly an ideal retail setting.

Effective July 1, the greenhouse will no longer be a retail shop. Items are on sale throughout June.
