Odense Blomsterfestival celebrated its 20 year anniversary this year and the grand opening was Thursday the 15th of August at 5:00 PM.
The Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is Official Protector for the festival, and this year she came to open the 4-day event. The whole city was covered in flowers, all of which come from local nurseries in Denmark.
The festival highlights novelties produced by Danish breeders and often starts with the naming of one specially selected novelty. This year Schroll Flowers had the great honor of having their new Hydrangea variety ‘Princess Of Passion’ named by her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary – something they are very proud and happy about.
The ‘Princess of Passion’ is a pink Hydrangea variety that has somewhat darker leaves which means that it tolerates the sun better than other normal pink varieties of Hydrangea. The flower develops from pink edges with a white middle to a full dark pink flower and finally, it becomes green.
The plant produces many flower heads and has a dense foliage, on top of this it has a good longevity. The ‘Princess of Passion’ is also suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
