"This is what the consumers want – something new with a storytelling", says Milena Weller of Selecta one when talking about their new poinsettia variety SkyStar.

Not just another color variety
SkyStar is Selecta one's latest poinsettia variety added to their assortment. According to Weller, it is not just another color variety, it extends the assortment into a new direction. "It has dark green foliage and red bracts that are covered in white dots, like the flares of a spotlight. On top of that, the thick, robust, dark red, V-shaped stems and the good root system involves excellent characteristics", she says.

Storytelling
Over the years, Selecta one's poinsettia sales have grown and according to Weller, these varieties with a "story" are supporting the positive development. According to Weller, storytelling is becoming an increasingly important sales tool. "One important task for us in the future is to target younger buyers. We need to tell new “stories” and modernize the product to attract buyers and make them enter the shops." Weller thinks that this new variety will inspire and bring fresh wind and glamour to Christmas time.

Positive first reactions
SkyStar is currently in the introduction process and the first reactions from producers and trade have been positive. "They appreciate the novelty." Skystar will come on stage with suitable advertising material for an impressive appearance at the POS.
