German breeder and young plant producer Brandkamp has significantly expanded its two dahlia series. "We can now offer all the important basic colours from its own breeding for the next bedding plant season", they say in a press release.
Dalitza Red Tips and Dalitza Ruby
The Dalitza series is medium-strong growing and suitable for 12/13 cm pots. It has been expanded with Dalitza Ruby in a rich, dark wine-red colour. Dalitza Red Tips, the first bicoloured variety, red with white tips, has been added to the series also.
Dalitza Big Sunny and Dalitza Big Rose
Dalitza Big is the stronger growing series for 17 to 20 cm pots. It´s suitable especially for cultivating Dahlias in big containers which are becoming more and more popular. Brandkamp can offer 8 varieties now with 4 new varieties. Dalitza Big Rose, Dalitza Big Sunny and the bright red Dalitza Big Fire ensure that the basic colours are completely covered. Dalitza Big Red Flash is the second bicoloured variety after Dalitza Big Candy.

As Brandkamp reports intensive breeding will continue and other complementary colours are in the pipeline. As with the current innovations, further varieties are tested for at least 3 years both in culture and in their outdoor performance, so that at the end of a long-term selection process, only the best become a variety.
