German young plant producers optimistic about coming season

Despite the tense energy situation, the companies in the Fachgruppe Jungpflanzen (FGJ), part of Zentralverband Gartenbau (ZVG), are cautiously optimistic about the coming season. This became clear at the autumn meeting on 10 and 11 November 2022 in Münsterland, Germany.

"The planning for the bedding plant season is in place," emphasized FGJ Chairman Frank Silze. One has not reduced the mother plant stock but can also respond late to order requests.

As part of the fall meeting, the Fachgruppe Jungpflanzen was invited to several plant visits. The Volmary and Kötterheinrich nurseries were visited. After the visit to the bioenergy park Saerbeck there was an exchange with the students of horticulture at the University of Osnabrück.

In the lecture part of the autumn meeting, among other things, production costs and market developments were discussed, and future prospects were examined in more detail. There was also an exchange of experience on the subject of reusable packaging.
