Photo Report IPM Essen 2023

Here it is, the photo report of the IPM Essen. But before we dive into the pictures, first some statistics. From January 24-27, the Messe Essen in Essen welcomed over 40,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries. At the show, there were 1,330 companies from 46 nations presenting their innovations and new products in the fields of plants, technology, floristry and garden features.

Times are different
So how was this 39th edition compared to the previous one in 2020? That edition welcomed 54,000 visitors and 1,538 exhibitors presented their products and services. But times were different in January 2020; no one knew that the pandemic was about to hit the world, as well as the war in Ukraine, current energy crisis and inflation. These changes influenced the sales of flowers and plants, from a total standstill till record highs, and everything in between.

The other big topic, climate change, was already on the agenda, and the level of footprint-calculating, carbon sequestering, and biodiversity-saving solutions and initiatives was as high as ever.

In terms of technology, the limited presence of LED suppliers and the absence of "regular" players like Gakon-Netafim was striking. The company decided to skip the fair this year because this year the preference is for direct contact with growers while setting up online communication with growers worldwide

The fair also discussed booth fees, which have risen considerably. Nevertheless, it can be seen that more and more own stand construction is appearing and that German suppliers also seem to be doing well: there is no skimping on the fair presentation.

The team of Morel presenting their golden award they won at the AIPH Grower of the Year. At the booth Indiaka took center stage.

40th anniversary in 2024
In 2024, IPM Essen will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and the show will again take place the end of January, from January 23 - 26.
