Photo report : FlowerTrials 2025

Rain or shine, the FlowerTrials is one of the biggest events in week 24. This year's edition basked in sunshine, setting the stage for a vibrant showcase. Across 27 locations, 56 breeders presented their latest innovations alongside their existing assortments. We visited all sites and captured their highlights in our photo report.

Clockwise: Francesca Lanzillotta of Suntory, Hubert and Stefan Brandkamp, Sirekit Mol from Beekenkamp and Michael Perry aka Mr Plantgeek, and Evan Wijnker of PanAmerican Seed

Visitors from around the globe—from Asia and Australia to North and South America—flocked to the Netherlands to experience the FlowerTrials firsthand. Dutch growers and traders were also out in full force, exploring the breadth of what the breeders had to offer.

Clockwise from left to right: Marjolein Kuyucu-Lodder (Florensis), Gina Ernesto and Lisa van den Berg (Schreurs), Frank Verhoogt and Marthe Oltheten (Anthura), and Team Kolster.

Key themes once again took center stage: faster cultivation cycles, uniform flowering, enhanced disease resistance, compact growth habits, and resilient plants capable of withstanding both heat and excessive rain. There's also a growing appetite for full-series introductions—complete plant lines launched all at once, rather than adding new colors one year at a time.

We'll explore the emerging trends in more detail later this week. For now, enjoy the highlights from this colorful event!
