Gert-Jan Dekker has joined Hawthorne Gardening Company in Rozenburg as an agronomist in the Marketing & Development team since March 1, 2023.
Gert-Jan studied Agricultural Science in Wageningen and earned his spurs as an agronomist in the tomato family business Dekker Glascultures in Wervershoof. After various international positions, he worked as a technical sales engineer/manager in seeds at Ergon Seed in the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe.
At Hawthorne gardening company, Gert-Jan is responsible for building expertise in growing under LED light and translating this into services and product innovations for Agrolux. In this role, Gert-Jan will, among other things, conduct research in cooperation with renowned knowledge institutes into the many possibilities for growing various crops with LED lighting and thus contribute to developments in LED for said brands. He will also provide support to customers and advise them in their choice for the benefit of optimal LED lighting for their crops.
