With this system, 30 liters could paint one hectare

The results of using drones to paint greenhouses white are very positive

The Sevillian drone company KOTA has implemented a technology that was born for military purposes and used it for the bleaching of greenhouses.

The company first used drones to spray phytosanitary products and carry out fumigation. According to Francisco Javier Gosálvez, “We started developing these possibilities thanks to the increase in work safety and prevention measures.” The first tests to paint greenhouses with drones have been carried out on a farm in Malaga, and the results are very optimistic.

“Not only is it safer for the farmer or the bleaching operators because they no longer have to climb to the roof of the greenhouses, with the risk that entails, but it also makes better use of the paint,” Gosálvez stated.

“We used a higher concentration of paint. That means that, for example, whitening a hectare - which in the traditional system required 200 liters- can now be done with only 30 liters.”
