A qualification certificate for a nursery of popularity-type foreign seed introduction test has been recently conferred to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
The construction of the nursery is aimed at establishing a safe channel for introducing germplasm resources, preventing the invasion of harmful alien organisms introduced from abroad, and improving the facilities and prevention system for foreign introduction in XTBG.
The nursery is located in the eastern part of XTBG, covering an area of 17.18 mu. It is divided into seedlings preliminary inspection area, seedlings preliminary inspection pest control treatment area, absolute isolation area, general isolation area and isolation seedling breeding area.
The nursery is equipped with complete control systems for disinfection epidemic prevention, insect pests, light temperature, humidity, etc. It is also equipped with four-sided closed epidemic ditches and fences, a vehicle disinfection pool, a pedestrian disinfection foot basin, roads, a power supply, a water supply, and other ancillary facilities. It can meet the isolation trial requirements of carrying out foreign introduction work so as to prevent the natural spread of harmful organisms and carry out pest control treatment timely and effective.
