Photo report IPM Essen

The 41st edition of the IPM Essen has come to a close. This year, the trade fair welcomed over 40,000 visitors (+5% compared to last year), with 1,434 exhibitors from 45 countries showcasing their products and services. FloralDaily and HortiDaily were also present, gathering news and creating not just one, but two photo reports—one featuring floral exhibitors and the other highlighting technology exhibitors.

According to several exhibitors at the fair, it was striking how many buyers from large garden centers and supermarkets, such as Lidl and Aldi, were present. In addition to a large delegation of Dutch attendees, there were also Spanish, Italian, and Turkish pavilions at the fair. Various lectures and presentations were held throughout the day.

What have we heard during the fair? We've already discussed it in this article, so in short: Growers are facing challenges like rising labor costs, shortages, and changing regulations, but remain cautiously optimistic for spring. A late Easter may extend peak demand, creating opportunities. Retailers are shifting to smaller, more frequent orders, impacting suppliers. Sustainability efforts continue, focusing on reducing peat and plastic use. Energy concerns drive interest in dehumidification due to increased LED lighting, while automation is seen as a solution for labor issues. Greenhouse construction is expected to rebound. Over 55 new plant varieties debuted at the IPM Novelty Showcase, though many exhibitors prefer the FlowerTrials in week 24 for better blooming conditions.

IPM Essen 2026
IPM Essen is also on the agenda in 2026. The trade fair will take place from 27 to 30 January. 86 percent of the exhibitors have already decided to participate next year, the organization reports. 93 percent of the visitors also say they will be there again next year.
