NL: Selecta one will be showing the latest highlights and novelties at FlowerTrials

Selecta one will be showing the latest highlights and novelties from the bedding and balcony plant and perennial assortment as well as pot carnations and cut flowers at the FlowerTrials® location Kwekerij Bloem en Tuin, Oudecampsweg 4, 2678 KN De Lier/N.

New assortment structure
Selecta is introducing a newly created, cross-crop differentiation of its product range that enables even better orientation. The tried-and-true ranges of established Selecta genetics, known for their good technical performance, are grouped together as Essentials. These series are characterized by a high level of uniformity, meet the basic demand for varieties and colors, and are usually produced in large volumes for the mass market. Individuals, mostly smaller series and single varieties with special features and characteristics, are considered Stand Outs and are often produced by specialists for garden centers and specialty shops. Additionally, there are the very special exclusive highlights in the Selecta range that are easy to identify and recognize not only by experts but also by consumers. These specialties are presented as Diamonds with a special focus in marketing.

Highlights of the FlowerTrials presentation by Selecta
A prominent presence at the Selecta stand is the Diamond Calibrachoa Bakari®, a participant in the 2024 FleuroStar Award. This Calibrachoa variety, with its extraordinary color spectrum that plays with red, orange, pink, and yellow, impresses with radiant flowers that seem to glow like the sun itself. Speaking of the sun, Bakari stands out in full sun locations with a strong appearance, early flowering, and bushy growth.

Special Calibrachoa Stand Outs are the Fresh & Fruity varieties, which have been separated from the Neo series to give them the independence they deserve. These two-colored varieties with a large eye cover the entire summer color palette, and their names also evoke a sense of summer: Summer Fresh, Panna Cotta, Lavandula Cheesecake, Smoothie, Frozen Berry, and Mango Lassi.

Fresh & Fruity

3D - as the name suggests, this Osteospermum series presents double-flowering varieties with an impressive appearance. The best part: the flowers do not close. 3D Osteospermum not only offers attractive color combinations but also forms a uniform series that is easy to cultivate. The top variety and a Diamond in the range is 3D Steel Blue, which impresses with its unique blue color that becomes even more intense in strong light and outdoors in summer. With its excellent branching and medium-compact growth, it impresses not only with its strength but also with its elegance, which is highlighted in the newly developed marketing campaign.

Steel Blue

As part of a clear repositioning, the dahlia series previously known as Meena has been renamed Dalaya® Garden. This new series name, accompanied by an appealing logo, emphasizes the excellent suitability of these dahlias for the garden. The plants are characterized by their medium height, round, very bushy habit, and high resistance to mildew. In addition to the variety of standard colors, the particularly attractive bicolored varieties, with green and dark bronze foliage colors and rich, long-lasting flowering until the onset of frost, are especially impressive. The large, semi-double, high-pollen flowers make Dalaya Garden very insect-friendly (e.g., bees, bumblebees, butterflies). They only require a short cultivation period of 8 weeks with just one rooted cutting in a 13-17 cm pot.

The AlpeTunia® series, known for its strong trailing petunias, has been successfully modernized. With a wide range of colors, including special hues, the series offers 14 unique varieties with large, early blooms, full flowers, and good branching—an eye-catcher with a proven long-distance effect. The plant structure is dense and sometimes grows a bit more upright in the initial phase, but it quickly develops its characteristic trailing habit. The varieties produce flowers early due to their day-length neutrality.

Solenostemon is a new addition to the Selecta range: Spectrum, the new series, consists of four varieties that have been selected for their high heat tolerance and low flowering tendency, with high uniformity. The high-contrast leaf design is a wonderful complement to flowering assortments and can be beautifully combined.

The new social media campaign "Pink your friendship" by Pink Kisses will be presented at the FlowerTrials. Following the successful campaigns "Pink your garden" in 2023 and "Pink Match!" in 2024, where Pink Kisses were positioned as a central element in garden enhancement and as a pink symbol for friendship dates, respectively, the new campaign captures the special magic of girl friendships. Pink Kisses not only stands for friendship but also offers target group-relevant content on many friendship topics and shows how beautiful friendship moments can be created with Pink Kisses.

Lucky Lips, which was launched in 2024, are also on display at the Selecta presentation. The innovative marketing concept centered around the varieties Lara, Lena, Lisa, Lola, and Luna has attracted the interest of additional European retailers and has expanded internationally.

Oscar, along with proven series such as SuperTrouper and DiaDeur, will also take center stage in the Dianthus presentation. The variety showcase will be complemented by successfully established single varieties such as I❤U, Peach Party, and Purple Wedding, as well as the Kiwi Mellow Cool and other highlights in the cut flower segment.

Premiering are the Whetman Pinks perennial carnations, which set new accents in the Selecta range. The Alpine series impresses with drought-tolerant and frost-hardy varieties featuring eye-catching foliage and highly fragrant flowers that bloom from April to autumn. Highlights include the varieties Aztec Star, Electric Dreams, and Flutterburst. All varieties are suitable for peat-free production and are particularly insect-friendly. The FleuroStar candidate for 2025 from Selecta also comes from the Alpine series and will be presented for the first time at the FlowerTrials.

Electric Dreams

Also on display at FlowerTrials are the Whetman series Scent First, featuring award-winning, highly fragrant carnations, as well as Whetman Cocktails and Garden Pink, renowned ranges of highly fragrant carnation hybrids suitable for cut flowers or borders. All Whetman varieties are multiple-flowering and suitable for cool cultivation as a low-energy plant.

Various photo points enable an interactive tour of the variety show and invite visitors to capture the highlights of the varieties in a perfect setting.
