The 18th Goyang International Flower Expo, South Korea's representative spring flower festival, will be held for 17 days from April 24 to May 10 at Ilsan Lake Park.
This year's expo, themed "Flowers, Coloring Time," will present a variety of garden exhibitions and abundant hands-on programs that connect the past, present, and future, transforming the 250,000-square-meter lake park into a vibrant spectacle. Since its inaugural event in 1997, the flower expo has grown into Goyang City's signature festival, attracting over 9 million domestic and international visitors through last year.
The highlight of this year's expo is set to be the landmark "Garden of the Time Traveler," set up at the main plaza. Inspired by the Korean traditional astronomical instrument honcheonsigye, the main art installation is designed to resemble a sundial and water clock, creating a unique spatial experience. The main structure, measuring 13 meters high and 26 meters wide, features a rotating spherical floral sculpture that symbolizes the passage of time.
Additionally, the "Bitdam Garden," making use of the metasequoia-lined avenue, will showcase a sky garden with three-dimensional structures reflecting traditional Korean aesthetics and hanging gardens that capture the light of nature.
